Über den Nextgenderation-Verteiler kam vor einigen Wochen ein französischer Aufruf zu einer profeministischen Woche, der von Daniel ins Englische übersetzt wurde. Wenn ich das richtig verstehe, wollen sich zwischen dem 22. und 30. März einige Leute in der Gegend von Haut-Diois treffen. Zweck der Übung ist es, sich darüber bewusst zu werden, dass Mann-Sein und/oder Weiß-Sein und/oder Hetero-Sein und oder der Mittelschicht (classe moyenne) anzugehören bedeutet, Privilegien zu haben.
Ich fand den Aufruf und die darin formulierten Überlegungen sehr interessant und möchte sie darum hier posten. Gerade jetzt, wo sich auch das Mädchenblog mit den Antifeministisch-Männerbewegten herumschlagen muss, wünsche ich mir doch, dass noch viele sich solche Gedanken machen.
It’s important to come to this event in a state of mind that leaves us open to self-reflexion and self-criticism. That is the basis for beginning to counter our habits of domination, including ways of acting and reacting that might seem banal and nothing to do with domination at first glance.
We also really really want these few days to be a true experience of collective living. We will share all tasks, from cooking to taking notes, we will organize ourselves with the aim of giving ourselves a set of rules that will allow to minimise hierarchies, especially those kinds that so often appear in all-male settings.
What we absolutely do not want is to re-create, under the pretext of profeminism, a kind of a solidarity among men that is directed against the interests of women as a class, and against feminist movements.
For example, we find it unacceptable and politically dangerous to claim that men who feel marginal or unhappy feel that way because they belong to the class of men. In other words, here we have this famous “suffering of men” that the media talk about so much and that is currently fashionable.
Certainly, there can be psychological discomfort related to our exercise of domination, a malaise, an unease, but this must not be mixed up with the very much harsher experience of being oppressed.
These male problems are “boomerang effects” for which only we ourselves are responsible.
Politically, it would be contrary to a profeminist stance to make these problems a central issue, or to use them to demand attention. That would be a bit like a capital owner complaining in front of his employees about how stressed he feels.
As a consequence of the set of patriarchal rules that discourage men from expressing their inner states, men may of course have trouble talking about their suffering – suffering that is due to other relations of domination: We may be oppressed as being immature, as nonwhite, as inexperienced, as non hetero, etc etc, but never because of the fact of our being a member of the class of men.
To think or claim otherwise implies the idea that we live in a world dominated by women or feminist movements. A delusion we leave to the masculinists.

Von der Sowietunion (von Lenin) lernen heißt Siegen lernen?
“class of men”, wer soll das sein? Wer proklamiert denn, als “Klasse” Mann unterdrückt zu werden? Wer leugnet denn, Herr Ackermann (und seine Frau) seien Unterdrücker? Die Kritik richtet sich dagegen, dass eine “Klasse” Männer (zur Feindbildpflege, als integrierendes Element) überhaupt aufgemacht wird. Es gibt Rollenzuschreibeungen – ohne Zweifel, und die Rollen engen ein. Man kann trefflich darüber streiten, wer dabei das “benachteiligtere” Geschlecht ist. Aber eine “Klasse” Mann? Absurdistan.
Reflektieren heißt nicht, dass alle die gleiche “Wahrheit” erkennen, die Welt ist da ein bisschen komplizierter – Und kann im Sinne von Freiheit nur gedeutet werden, wenn jeder seinen Teil beisteuert.
Aber Klar:
Wer nicht so denkt wie Ihr, ist ein Frauenfeind. Habt Ihr etwas anderes beizutragen, als moralisierenden Gut/Böse/Freund/Feind – Trash?
Danke fürs Verlinken! Das stimmt mich nachdenklich. Insbesondere das “Verbot”, unter den Dominanzrollen zu leiden lässt mich Grübeln:

Ich sehe das ein bisschen anders, weil Patriarchat eher eine Machtstruktur als eine Geschlechtsstruktur widerspiegelt, aber ich mag mich damit gerade nicht zu weit aus dem Fenster lehnen, sondern muss erst nachdenken. Du kriegst dann ein Pingback :)
